Flame Retardant Adhesives

MG Chemicals has 2-part flame retardant epoxy adhesives that help contain the spread of fire in the event of sudden ignition. These products are quick setting, adhere to a wide variety of substrates and contain non-halogenated fillers.

8329TFF – Thermal conductivity of 0.8 W/(m·K), UL 94V-0 rated (Flame retardant), 5 minute working time. Viscous, yet flowable enough to be dispensed from a syringe or a mixing tip. Can be cured at room temperature or higher.

8349TFM – Thermal conductivity of 1.1 W/(m·K), meets UL 94V-0 (Flame retardant), 20 minute working time. Viscous, yet flowable enough to be dispensed from a syringe or a mixing tip. Can be cured at room temperature or higher.

What is the difference between meets UL94 V-0 and certified to UL94 V-0?

A product that meets UL94 V-0 has been tested by MG Chemicals as per the vertical burn test procedure and found to comply with the standard. A product that is certified as UL94 V-0 has been submitted to Underwriters Laboratories under their qualification program and passed. These products are listed in the UL database and have a yellow card.

What does it mean for a product to be flame retardant?

Flame retardance can be misunderstood. If a flame retardant material is continuously subjected to a flame source, it will burn; however, should the flame source be removed, the material will self-extinguish and not propagate the fire any further. Flame retardant materials accomplish this through several mechanisms including water release, charring and smoke suppression.
