There are a few variables to consider here but light source is a good place to start. These adhesives respond to light sources that operate within the 200 – 405nm wavelength region so please check that your light output includes these wavelengths. Next, check the irradiance of the light output using a radiometer to measure, note that you can increase the irradiance by moving the adhesive closer to the light source. Finally, use the dosage values found on the product TDS to determine how long the adhesive needs to be exposed to the light. The formula to determine the time in seconds is
time(seconds) = Dosage(J/cm2)/Irradiance(W/cm2)
You can also test different times and check when the adhesive is no longer tacky but dry and firm.
These adhesives are formulated with specialty resins that enable a secondary moisture cure mechanism for shadowed areas. Full cure in shadowed areas takes approximately 24 hours.
Some colors can be made available however, other colors are not possible since they block the wavelengths needed for the adhesive to cure. Contact Technical support [email protected] to inquire further.
You can form conventional bonds with optically clear materials like glass and polycarbonate either to themselves (i.e. glass/glass) or a dissimilar substrate (glass/Aluminum). For opaque materials, you cannot simply apply the adhesive between the 2 materials as they will not receive the necessary light to cure. You can however apply adhesive around the seams where 2 opaque materials meet and adhere the materials that way.
